We are waiting in the ICU. That is a place in the hospital where they take people that have been hurt really bad and they need a special nurse to watch over them.
Grandpa K has respiratory helpers, physical therapy helpers and a nurse named Jeff.
The Pastor from the Pastoral Care Ministry stopped by, Audrey Lawerence. She is Mark Sheldon's mom! Mark was the custodian at Central school where Grandpa K works. Bruce always liked having another male around, not enough testorone around he would say. Audrey and her husband had comforting words and the four of us had a prayer together. What a small world! A tender mercy.
Tim and Tina Sudbrock stopped with a small bucket of chocolate for me. Tina and I were visiting teachers together once. That is two ladies are assigned to visit other ladies in our church once a month. We give a lesson, say a prayer, and if they need help or there are problems, we tell the Relief Society president and she reports to the Bishop. So the point is, Tina and I would take chocolate to the ladies we visited, only we kinda ate some of it before we made it to their homes. So in that small memory dear Tina brought me a bucket of candy to eat. Too bad I don't feel like eating. Yea I know I must be really upset to not be interested in chocolate. Did I ever figure a day like that would come?
Tina promised Andrew a batch of lasagna. He is not afraid to ask for help.
Our three sons, Rob, Duncan and Luke arrived last night. They had prepared a song to sing to Bruce and wanted to give him a blessing. Alas Grandpa K had been pulling the tube on his oxygen mask off. I would reattach it and tell him he needed to breathe. He did it three times. The problem is he needs the air, he needs to spit up the gunk in his lungs. Once he can expectorate (there is a family story about that, I will disclose it later, it is really funny) then he can swallow and keep things down. Until he can do that, no food. They will start him on a liquid diet first and then regular food.
By the time the brothers arrived, they had to put the tube into Bruce's lungs so he could breathe better. He will get a hymn and song later. The brothers said his favorite hymn is "Redeemer of Israel". I told them his favorite hymn is "If You Could Hie to Kolob", Rob said no it wasn't, anyway after that 'discussion', they said they would sing both songs. You can listen to the songs here lds.org and type the title in the search box. It has a beautiful tune and can be played on the recorder or violin, it was written by W W Phelps.

I saw the article in the newspaper and couldn't believe it. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May the Lord continue to bless and comfort you.
You all are in our constant thoughts and prayers. Truly we don't know how we will be tried and tested...praying for peace and comfort to guide you through the days ahead. We'd be grateful to help in any way.
